This review is in response to my sister, Ashley, for scowling at me when I picked up this "baby book".Remember how I didn't really enjoy Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children? Well, I would have loved that story more if it had been more like The Mysterious Benedict Society. This book is witty and humorous. It messes with your head until you realize you have completely fallen for this book. If Lemony Snicket and Louis Sachar were chemical compounds then Trenton Lee Stewart's writing is a homogeneous mixture of those two. But, you ask, Stella, what does that mean? It simply means this book is "a substance that is uniform in composition [...and] when dividing the volume in half, the same amount of material is suspended in both halves of the substance." What I am saying is I cannot define this book as a Snicket-esque book nor can I say it is an homage to Sachar because it is neither. It is its own style - The Trenton Lee Stewart style. Components of Snicket and Sachar are blended so well within it that it's no longer separable. Considering Mr. Snicket and Mr. Sachar are two of my favourite authors, it's not a mystery why I enjoyed this book.In conclusion, based on my review, and the use of scientific terminologies, this book is, in fact, NOT a baby's book.
